1989 was a bell weather year for video game consoles, especially with the introduction of the Sega Genesis to the United States. Total Panic was lucky enough to get one of the first production models and the staff had a great time with many of the early games, like Altered Beast, which was enough like the arcade version to make anyone drool (video game enthusiasts were easily excited back then). Another treat was the near perfect translation of
R-Type on the Turbografx-16 (we actually preferred it to the arcade version; take a look at the game roll-in and see for yourself). The games were colorful, fast-paced and faithful reproductions of arcade favorites. What more could a game player ask for?
