Arnold should have tempered his enthusiasm in light of Dr. Grant's recent behavior. He had felt his mentor's growing apprehension over the past few days. He knew there were other engineers as talented as he was, but none could ever have conceived or manipulated the sixth dimensional mathematics that formed the basis of time travel. Dr. Grant's mind was a marvelous device. He alone had mastered the fundamental principles, rallied the funding, and directed the creation of the time machine. And in that sense, Dr. Grant bore the singular burden: How to deal with creating the most destructive force known to man?

Einstein and Oppenheimer were tormented by similar misgivings. In comparison to their discoveries, those great minds might as well have been playing with wet sand.

- From "Past Imperfect"

"And there were the things that were never quite human. When their brief corporeal existence ended, they were consigned to the lowermost depths. There, stripped of all human trappings, the essence of their evil and corruption was revealed… They were the children of Chaos, frothing bubbling masses of wild flesh, teeth and putrescent gore. For these souls, there appeared no hope of progression. Their torment was truly eternal, their passage to the human plane a tragic miscalculation, for the horror they wrought upon mankind was monstrous indeed."

- From "To Hell With You"

The Vedmur... Ah, what marvelously hideous creatures... Perfect in their monstrousness, fiendishly possessed of two most abominous traits -- greed and lust -- their entire existence devoted to the satisfaction of these base impulses. Theirs was an all-consuming hunger to exploit any resource, living or otherwise, driving them to acts any other sentient being would deem as astonishing depravities. Despite an evolutionary gap between themselves and Mankind that spanned millions of years, the Vedmur could describe the fulfillment of these desires in terms any human being could understand -- they enjoyed it. And none more than Emperor-Captain Hazrou.

- From "Moonshadow"
